Market Wrap Up

We have just got back from another day at the market. And whilst the crowds were a bit thinner than before Xmas we still had a good day. Well Tony did anyway...Thanks Tone for manning the stall for me!

The Bus Depot Markets is an indoor market (just as well since it rained today), so we have done a bit of rearranging of the set up to fit everything in and I'm pretty happy with the result but there is still more to come for next time

Anyway, market days can be a bit tiring for all the team (including Alvin who has the tough job of guarding the house)...time for a well deserved rest
Or maybe just enough energy to make a tapenade with the beautiful Olives that I bought from the market?

But then again maybe that can wait for another day.

Thank you Paddington Cat Clinic

Well we are nearly over with the move, the movers are finished and that container is on the train on the way to Canberra, the house is clean and apart from a few mishaps with tape not sticking and the hot water heater breaking on the last day, things are going smoothly

Whilst Tony and I have been frantic with the move Alvin has had his feet up at the cattery at Paddington Cat Clinic.

Over the last 12 months, Alvin has spent many a weekend in the good hands of the Paddington Cat Clinic where the cuddles are included in the price. Thanks to everyone for taking such good care of my little man the piece of mind is priceless. Hopefully he is just a comfortable in his holiday house in Canberra.

A big thank you to everyone that voted for PretaPawte in the Etsy Fashion For Pets Poll. We are so please to have been voted in the Top 10 and to be featured in the Etsy Member's Choice Gift Guide with our Retro nest green cat collar

Its been a big week this week with lots going on and today I am please to announce the winner of our facebook giveaway, Lauren who chose the PretaPawte Pressed Flower Dog Collar as her favourite. Congratulations Lauren you collar will be in the post soon.

As most of our blog followers would be aware we got Alvin from the Cat Protection Society in Enmore in the middle of last year and not only is he now the most spoilt cat that ever lived (not that he'd admit it) but he has also has he changed our lives and brought us so much joy (not to mention a reason to make collars)

So with Alvin in mind its time again to say thanks to the Cat Protection Society for looking after Alvin and many other kittens and cats before they find their forever homes and for the next two weeks for every cat collar sold in our etsy store PretaPawte will give $1 to the Cat Protection Society.

Looking forward to the BrisStyle Indie Markets

Its been a busy week here at PretaPawte as we recover from our YDM market preparations.

As you can see from the photos below Alvin is a hard task master and he had me working (under his watchful eye) at the sewing machine day and night getting the stock ready for the market.

As a team we managed to get everything done and the market was a success. We got plenty of positive feedback, some well earned sales and some great ideas to have an even better stall next month.

Speaking of next month, if you missed us at YDM then drop on down to Racecourse Rd, Hamilton on the 4th July to see us and lots of other great BrisStyle girls at the BrisStyle Indie markets.

PretaPawte take to the Young Designers Market

Its been a big week here at PretaPawte as we prepare for the the Young Designer Markets in three weeks time. Alvin has been cracking the whip this weekend as we have been in production mode. He found himself the perfect spot to oversee the work but couldn't undertand why him lying all over the fabric was slowing down the work.
He relectantly moved and did managed to find himself another spot that enabled him to be part of the action but slightly less in the way. It seems that quality control is tiresome work.
With next weekend and most of the following week in Sydney it looks like we will be burning the candle at both ends this week to ensure that we have enough of each design (and a few new ones) available for the market.

It's all about cats

OK so for the past couple of weeks PretaPawte has been supporting some fantastic organisations that help out dog's in need by finding them loving families but now its time to get back to our roots and do something for the cats.

We got Alvin from the Cat Protection Society in Enmore in the middle of last year and he is now the most spoilt cat that ever lived....or at least he's in the running. He has mountains of toys and his own toy box, a filtered water fountain, an automatic feeder, only eats the super premium food and has a whole back deck netted in for his own enjoyment...but he is worth it and it is thanks to the Cat Protection Society that we have him as part of our family and that i wake up each morning to his soothing purr and a paw in my face (not so soothing)

Over the last couple of days Alvin has been rather vocal, chirping, meowing and not to mention purring and it has been hard to understand what he wants but maybe this is it?? Till the end of April for every cat collar sold PretaPawte will give $1 to the Cat Protection Society.

Easter

We were hoping for a quiet Easter this year, four days with nothing to do. Instead, our little cat Alvin decided to escape. He's normally asleep on his purpose built back deck which we have meticulously netted in to seperate Alvin from the possums that live in the surrounding trees, but over the weekend he found a way out.

Come bedtime on Saturday night we went to say goodnight but he was no where to be found. Two people, in the dark, in their pyjama's, calling out "Alvin" was quite a sight for the neighbours.

After some time shaking a packet of his favourite Greenies treats we heard the familiar tinkle sound of the bell on his PretaPawte collar as he emerged from the shadows as if nothing had happened.

After banning him from the deck for the night we discovered a weak point in the netting which was patched up with a couple of cable ties, much to Alvin's disgust.

After this late night fun the rest of weekend was filled with more collar making. Our latest creation can be found here and expect to see a few more through the course of this week.

PretaPawte Gives something back

My cat Alvin was a rescue kitten that was left abandoned with his litter mates to fend for himself. If it wasn't for the tireless efforts of rescue shelters like the Cat Protection Society and the RSPCA we wouldn't be able to experience the joy and love that Alvin brings us everyday.

So here at PretaPawte we have decided that its time to give something back and I am please to announce that for the following week (7/4/09 to 14/4/09) for every "Georgie Chicken Dog Collar" sold PretaPawte will donate $1 to the RSPCA.

Alvin demands more trendy Cat Collars

If there is one thing that is for sure its that in our house its all about Alvin and who could blame us he is so cute. Here he is guarding my fabric stash well that's what he told me he was doing..I'm pretty sure that he was just trying to be the centre of attention not that he needs to try very hard.
After a couple of weeks of concentrating on some new Dog collars designs, at Alvin's insistence I have today added two more Cat collars to the collection.

Another new Collar as promised

After a lunch with the Brisstyle team I was more than inspired to get onto some crafty exploits and this new dog collar, made from my new fabric is just one of the results.

The other is a skirt that I have been attempting to make for the past 4 weeks. I'm not overly pleased with the result however I think that I am a little harsh on myself..but because of that there are no pictures....to compensate here is a picture of Alvin making himself at home in my work space.
